Nollywood actor Ibrahim Chatta has finally broken his silence after being overlooked once again at the 2025 Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA).
The glamorous event, held on May 10, 2025, at Eko Hotel and Suites, Victoria Island, attracted a star-studded lineup of celebrities.
In a recent interview, the renowned actor—who has faced repeated snubs from the AMVCA organisers—shared his thoughts on the ongoing lack of recognition.
The movie star, who also owns a film village, recently appeared as a guest on Curiosity Made Me Ask, a podcast hosted by popular skit maker Adebayo Ridwan Abidemi, widely known as Isbae U.
During their conversation, Isbae U raised the pressing question of why the AMVCA organisers have repeatedly failed to recognize him.
In response, Ibrahim Chatta admitted that he often asks himself the same question. However, he emphasized that he isn’t particularly bothered by awards. According to him, if he genuinely cared, he would have submitted one of his films for consideration.
Turning the spotlight back on his host, Chatta asked if Isbae U knew how many accolades he had already received. He suggested that his low social media presence might make award organisers assume he wouldn’t attend such ceremonies.
Sharing a few of his recognitions, the actor revealed he had received an award from an international organisation, one from Nobel Laureate Professor Wole Soyinka, and another from fellow actor Odunlade Adekola, who honoured individuals he believed were truly deserving.
He said; “I am not interested, why will I be praying for what I am not interested in?. Whenever I am interested, I will submit a film and give it to them to see.”
“I have thought about it, why don’t they invite me because I see younger people attending and winning. Do you know how many awards are in my house?”
