Veteran Filmmaker Fala Recounts Emotional Encounter With Ronke Odunsanya During Movie Shoot
Veteran Nollywood producer and actor, Fala, has opened up about a memorable experience he had with popular actress Ronke Odunsanya — a moment that has left a lasting impression on him.
During a recent interview on Behind The Fame African A-List, Fala shared how Ronke’s humility and commitment to her craft quickly stood out during their early collaborations. Reflecting on their time working together on the movie Oshodi Oke, he recalled:
“I’ll never forget what she did for me. We were working on a movie, Oshodi Oke. I was the director. We had a serious casting challenge. Myself, Muyiwa Ademola and Femi Adebayo were the writers. Femi handled the dialogue, and I took care of the screenplay. We all agreed that the actress we had at the time wasn’t fit for the role.”
He revealed that they both started contacting various actresses in search of the perfect fit for the role. While Fala placed a call to one actress, Muyiwa reached out to Ronke Odunsanya.
“We agreed that whoever arrived first would get the role. Fortunately, Ronke called first. When she arrived, I told her, ‘I’m not changing my mind again. I wish you give me the best.’ She read the script and confidently said, ‘We’re good to go.’”
Ronke’s performance, he said, was excellent, leading to more collaborations between them.
Fala then described another emotional moment on a separate movie set:
“She was briefed about her scene and told that Oga Fala was around. I was sitting behind her, quietly. When she saw me, she was shocked. She immediately knelt down and began moving towards me on her knees with respect.”
He added:
“Momodu stood there with his mouth wide open. Ronke told him, ‘That is my boss. He’s my father in the industry.’ That kind of humility and honor touched me deeply.”
