Nollywood actress Aisha Lawal has addressed the accusations made against her by a member of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW).
Tensions have escalated within the Lagos State chapter of the NURTW following the circulation of a viral video featuring union leader Istijabah. In the video, Istijabah leveled serious allegations against NURTW chairman Musiliu Akinsanya, popularly known as MC Oluomo, and actress Aisha Lawal.
He accused MC Oluomo of mismanaging the union’s funds by spending lavishly on Nollywood actresses. According to him, this alleged financial recklessness has left many devoted union members in dire financial straits.
Among the celebrities singled out in Istijabah’s viral rant was actress Aisha Lawal, whom he claimed is currently driving a Toyota Venza allegedly bought for her during one of the union’s lavish spending sprees.
Speaking in Yoruba, Istijabah said, “Aisha Lawal benefited from a Venza I worked hard to pay for, while MC Oluomo kept pressuring us into debt just to impress his Nollywood women.”
He added that although he has since moved on from the incident, he felt a strong urge to reclaim the vehicle after seeing Aisha Lawal flaunting it on social media.
He stated: “If not that I’ve forgotten about it, I would have collected my car. The other day, I saw her posting that car smiling. I was like ah-ah, this life!.”
In a new video posted on her TikTok page, Nollywood actress Aisha Lawal has addressed the allegations, firmly denying claims that she received a Toyota Venza as a gift from MC Oluomo. She clarified that she has never owned or even driven a Venza.
Further defending herself, Aisha revealed that she studied Law for seven years at a private university and made it clear that she is prepared to take legal action against Istijabah for defamation.
Confidently dismissing the claim, the actress stated that a Venza is beneath her current status, emphasizing that she doesn’t even like the car. She added that her relationship with MC Oluomo is not close enough for him to buy her such a gift, let alone a birthday present.
