Fuji legend Alhaji General Kollington Ayinla has stirred online reactions following his bold remarks about Queen Salawa Abeni during his appearance on the Teju Babyface Show.
This comes shortly after he referred to his junior colleague, 68-year-old K1 De Ultimate, as a “boy,” criticizing him for not attending his mother’s burial.
Speaking with host Teju Babyface, Alhaji Kollington Ayinla declared that Salawa Abeni remains his wife forever, adding that her current husband is merely “borrowing” her from him.
Alhaji Kollington Ayinla and Salawa Abeni were romantically involved in the 1980s, following her departure from a previous marriage. Their relationship blended both personal and professional ties, resulting in several musical collaborations during that period.
However, their union eventually faced difficulties and came to an end in the early 1990s. Their separation was marked by emotional turbulence, including the tragic loss of Salawa Abeni’s son, Olanrewaju, in a car accident—a loss that deeply impacted her. Despite going their separate ways, both artists continued to leave lasting legacies in the Nigerian music industry.
Reinforcing his earlier statement, Alhaji Kollington Ayinla pointed out that he fathered three children with Salawa Abeni, while she has no children with her current husband.
He added that any time he calls her, she will pick his call.
