Well-known Yoruba actor Deji Coco has opened up about the challenges he faces due to his mother’s actions, revealing how they are making his life more difficult. He also shared his thoughts on the drastic steps he might consider if she continues to pressure him.
During an interview on the official YouTube channel of Kunleafod TV, Deji Coco stated that if his mother keeps frustrating his life, he might resort to theft, expressing indifference about the potential consequences, including losing his life.
As he strives to establish himself in the highly competitive film industry, Deji Coco frequently leaves his wife and children behind for movie shoots. This prolonged absence, combined with financial struggles, placed significant strain on his marriage.
He admitted that his unwavering dedication to his career ultimately led to the breakdown of his first marriage, as his wife grew increasingly frustrated with his continued absence.
She voiced her frustrations over his constant absence, which ultimately led to the breakdown of their relationship. The actor admitted that his inability to balance work and family life left lasting emotional scars that still affect him today.
Adding to the strain, Deji Coco revealed that his wife was not supportive of his career. She often complained about his frequent travels for work, even though he saw them as essential for securing his place in the industry. Over time, these tensions escalated, leading to their separation. Eventually, his wife left him and took their child with her.
In his statement, he said, “Since my mother is proud to call me her son, she should be able to play the role of a mother to me. If my mom frustrates me more, I may have to become a thief, and I don’t care if I die. I don’t want to do anything bad because of my family’s name, and my mom needs to realise that.”
“I’m not with my first wife today; I’ve remarried and had another child because of her negligence. She wasn’t a good mother and wife to me. She wasn’t always there for me. She always complained that I was not always at home because I used to travel frequently for movie locations. It still hurts me today because my wife left me and took our child because I focused more on my job and was not always available. She wasn’t supportive of my career.”
