Award-winning Nigerian gospel singer Tope Alabi has sparked controversy involving popular Nollywood actress Lizzy Anjorin after performing at the 60th birthday celebration of Abimbola Fashola.
A video circulating online captured the moment Tope Alabi performed at the event, which was held in honor of the former First Lady of Lagos State. In the clip, Abimbola was seen joyfully dancing with her husband as Tope Alabi delivered some of her signature gospel songs, surrounded by friends and family.
Sharing highlights from the event on her Instagram page, Tope Alabi expressed her heartfelt wishes to the celebrant, whom she referred to as a “dear mother.” She prayed for divine blessings upon her life and wished her many more fruitful and prosperous years ahead.
“Birthday wishes to our Dear Mother, Abimbola Fashola, as she celebrated her 60th birthday yesterday.
As you step into this new age, I pray God’s blessings for you all the days of your life. May your strength continually be renewed by God, ma.
I wish you many prosperous years ahead in Jesus’ name”.
Abimbola Fashola’s birthday performance came just a few days after she declined to play at Lizzy Anjorin’s birthday celebration.
In spite of payment, Tope reportedly declined to honor Lizzy at her surprise birthday celebration on Friday, according to Famous9ja. When Tope arrived at the venue and saw who she was performing for, she reportedly declined to perform.
