Popular Nollywood actress Azeezat Shorunmu has opened up about her decision to stop covering her hair and her choice to remain single in the movie industry.
In an interview posted on the official YouTube channel of Oyinmomo TV on Tuesday, July 2, 2025, the actress explained that although she is a devout Muslim, she decided to stop covering her hair after filmmakers began casting her solely in Muslim roles due to her appearance.
Azeezat also emphasized that she has never had a romantic relationship with any man in the movie industry, stating that she has always maintained her boundaries and focused solely on her craft.
According to Shorunmu, she said, “Up till this moment nobody can say that I have ever dated an actor in the movie industry because I’m not desperate to become popular. I was very passionate about Islamic religion, and I understand the Quran very well. I used to cover my hair, and when people see me now, they are always happy that I have stopped covering my hair. I’m a Muslim, but I stopped covering my hair when actors gave me only Muslim movie roles.”
