Nollywood actor Raymond Solomon Akinlawon has spoken out about the strained relationship between him and renowned actor Odunlade Adekola, revealing details of a fallout that created a rift between them.
During an interview on the official YouTube channel of Mtec TV, Akinlawon shared insights into the events that led to their misunderstanding. He explained that their relationship began to sour after Odunlade confronted him over the handling of ₦500,000, which had been entrusted to Akinlawon for a movie production.
According to Akinlawon, Odunlade Adekola usually entrusted him with production funds whenever a movie was in the works, relying on him to manage logistics such as paying cast members and handling other essential expenses.
However, during one particular project, Odunlade gave him a cheque to withdraw ₦500,000 from the bank. To Akinlawon’s surprise, upon returning with the cash, Odunlade instructed him to hand the money over to the son of veteran actor Yinka Quadri. He further informed Akinlawon that moving forward, all set-related matters should be directed through Yinka Quadri’s son a shift in dynamic that Akinlawon described as a stark departure from how they had previously worked together.
Akinlawon revealed that the real turning point in their relationship came when Odunlade asked him to give a detailed account of how the ₦500,000 was spent. He admitted that the request deeply hurt him, as it made him feel betrayed and distrusted. Feeling disrespected, Akinlawon decided to distance himself from the relationship. While some veteran actors in the industry noticed the change and sensed tension between them, he said he chose not to share the full story with anyone at the time.
