Actor Ayo Olaiya Breaks Silence on Allegations of Exploiting Mohbad’s Story and Featuring His Father in Film

Nollywood actor and filmmaker Ayo Olaiya has debunked rumors suggesting he intended to exploit the late singer Mohbad’s story by featuring the singer’s father in his films.

Speculation arose after a video surfaced online showing Ayo Olaiya and some of his colleagues visiting Mohbad’s father on a movie set, leading many to assume he was planning to use the grieving parent for a film project.

Through a post on his Instagram page, Ayo Olaiya clarified that he is an actor and filmmaker, not a human rights activist, as some have assumed. He dismissed claims that he intended to use Mohbad’s story for a movie or feature the late singer’s father in any of his productions.

DMAyo explained that while filming a movie near Mohbad’s father’s residence in Ikorodu, his team happened to spot the grieving father, and several people on set simply wanted to take photos with him. He urged those spreading false information to always verify the facts before drawing conclusions.

“My name is Ayo Olaiya. I am an actor and a filmmaker. I have never claimed to be a human rights activist. Contrary to the lies going around, I never planned to use Mohbad’s story for a movie, and I have not featured Mohbad’s dad in any of my movies. I was filming with my team around Mohbad’s father’s house in Ikorodu when one of my crew members saw Mohbad’s father in his car and screamed his name. The man alighted from his car to greet us and take pictures with us. Always take your time to verify things before jumping to conclusions. To my fans, I love you all for your unflinching love and support. Many thanks for your concern. God bless you all. Rest on legendary Mohbad”.
