Popular Nollywood actor Adewale Alebiosu has opened up about his remarkable spiritual transformation, revealing how an unexpected experience in church led him to convert from Islam to Christianity.
In an exclusive interview on the official YouTube channel of Feel Right News TV on Thursday, August 14, 2025, Alebiosu shared that he was born into a devout Muslim home, with both parents deeply committed to the Islamic faith. Growing up, he strictly adhered to Islamic teachings until a single encounter altered his path.
According to him, it all started when a friend invited him to a church program. The church needed a drummer for their service, and his friend, aware of his drumming talent, thought he could help. Initially, Alebiosu hesitated to attend due to his Muslim upbringing, but that decision would ultimately change the course of his life.
“I was born as a Muslim, and my parents also practice Islam,” he began. “One day, a friend of mine invited me to a church program, and they needed someone that could beat the drum during the church service.
My friend pleaded with me to come and help, but I didn’t want to enter the church at first. Eventually, the pastor himself came to plead with me, so I agreed to play the drums for them.”
What happened next, Alebiosu described as an overwhelming and inexplicable experience.
“All of a sudden, I noticed that my head started swelling up and the building of the church looked like it was moving around quickly,” he recounted. “Before I knew it, I fell down and lost consciousness. I converted from Islam to Christianity when I fell down inside the church while drumming.”
The actor said that when he regained consciousness, he felt a deep sense of peace and an unexplainable pull toward Christianity. For him, the incident was not just a physical collapse, but a divine encounter that signaled a new chapter in his spiritual journey.
Alebiosu acknowledged that the decision to change faiths was not easy. Coming from a Muslim family, his conversion was met with mixed reactions, including confusion, concern, and, in some cases, disappointment from relatives. However, he remained steadfast, believing that his experience was a clear sign from God.
“Some people thought it was just a coincidence or maybe a health problem, but I know what I felt,” he said. “That day was the turning point of my life. Since then, I have been serving God in the Christian faith, and my life has changed for the better.”
Over the years, Adewale Alebiosu has gained recognition for his roles in Yoruba Nollywood movies, often embodying characters deeply connected to traditional and spiritual themes. He explained that his own life experiences have greatly influenced how he approaches such roles, bringing authenticity and depth to his performances.
