Popular Nigerian singer David Adeleke, widely known as Davido, has taken to social media to subtly shade his colleagues, including Wizkid and Burna Boy, who once compared their wealth to his and that of the Adeleke family.
Davido’s father, Dr. Adedeji Adeleke, is on the verge of making history with the upcoming commissioning of a massive 1,250MW power plant in Ondo State, Nigeria.
According to a report by Nairametrics, the billionaire businessman has successfully completed one of the largest private power projects in the country. The plant is fully constructed and only awaits connection to the gas grid.
This significant achievement not only marks a major advancement in Nigeria’s energy sector but also reinforces Dr. Adeleke’s status as a billionaire — further solidifying the Adeleke family’s legacy of wealth and influence.
Reacting to the news, Davido confirmed the report shared by Nairametrics on their Instagram page today, July 21st, 2025, by reposting it on his Instagram stories — and that was just the beginning.
After proudly showcasing his father’s contribution to national development, the singer went a step further, throwing subtle jabs at critics as he boasted about the generational wealth within the Adeleke family.
He subtly took a swipe at Wizkid, Burna Boy, and others who often boast about having more wealth than him by captioning the reposted content with the phrase, “Dey Play.”
