Nollywood actress Mercy Aigbe’s ex-husband, Lanre Gentry, is celebrating his wife, Busayo, as she marks her birthday today, July 9, 2025.
Taking to his Instagram page, the businessman shared a lovely photo of his wife and called on his followers to join him in praying for her. Describing Busayo as his one and only, Gentry expressed heartfelt prayers for her continued protection and well-being.
He went on to describe her as not just a wife, but also his mother, sister, and closest friend, appreciating the deep bond they share.
He also appreciated her for all she does for him and gushed over her beauty.
“Today is my one and only wife’s birthday. I want everyone to help me pray for her because she is a very good friend, sister, and mother to me, and I pray to God to protect her always for me. Thanks very much, my wife, and happy birthday to you, my beautiful wife, mummy Maya @busayo_gentry”.
For her birthday last year, businessman Lanre Gentry poured out his heart in an emotional tribute to his wife, Busayo. Lanre and Busayo, whose full name is Oluwabusola, had their traditional wedding in September 2021 in a vibrant and colourful ceremony. A year later, the couple welcomed their first child together—a baby girl. Celebrating their first wedding anniversary, Lanre posted a photo of the two of them, thanking God for sustaining their union.
Prior to his marriage to Busayo, Lanre Gentry was married to Nollywood actress Mercy Aigbe. The former couple, who share a son, parted ways in 2017 amid allegations of domestic violence. In 2021, Mercy publicly appealed to Lanre to finalize their divorce by signing the necessary papers.
On their son’s birthday last year, Lanre subtly threw shade at Mercy, accusing her of keeping their son away from him. However, he expressed satisfaction that the boy was growing up to recognize him as his father and felt comfortable approaching him independently of his mother.
In what appeared to be a response, Mercy shared striking photos of herself in a stylish two-piece outfit, proudly declaring that her beauty never fades—seemingly a subtle clapback to her ex-husband’s remarks.
