In a recent interview, the renowned veteran actress, celebrated for her emotional roles in Yoruba films, shared that the move was not due to any conflict or serious issues within the marriage.
Oladokun clarified that her choice was a personal and respectful one, stemming from the realities of being in a polygamous marriage. She emphasized that her departure did not signal the end of the marriage, nor did it reflect any major problems between her and her husband. Instead, it was about finding a living arrangement that suited them both better.
In her conversation with Oyinmomo TV, the seasoned actress also reflected on the challenges she faced early in her career, balancing her roles as a wife and an actress. She spoke candidly about the societal stigma often directed at women in the entertainment industry, particularly during her early years.
The actress explained that women in the movie industry were often unfairly judged, with many people holding negative opinions about them. She mentioned that false accusations were commonly made, suggesting that actresses were unfaithful or behaved inappropriately.
Tola Oladokun emphasized that despite moving out, she and her husband remain married. She highlighted the fact that she still uses his family name, making it clear that there has been no official separation or divorce between them.
She explained their current living situation clearly: “I still bear his surname, ‘Oladokun’. But my husband has his house, and God helped me build mine. So, I left my husband’s house and moved into my own house. However, I told him I’ll visit on weekends.”
