Nollywood actress Mercy Aigbe has fulfilled a heartfelt wish of her late father.
Speaking at the premiere of the movie My Mother Is A Witch, the actress revealed that her father had always dreamed of seeing her act in a Benin-language film — a dream she has now brought to life through her latest role.
Sadly, he won’t be here to see the film. Knowing how proud he would have been, Aigbe expressed her heartfelt wish that he were alive to witness this moment.
Mercy Aigbe is undoubtedly making her late father proud in every way. The Nollywood star recently clinched the Best Supporting Actress award at the 11th edition of the AMVCA for her role in Farmer’s Bride, beating out top contenders like Meg Otanwa, Tina Mba, Ireti Doyle, Ini Dima-Okojie, Omoni Oboli, and Darasimi Nadi.
Just days before the award show, Aigbe reflected on her first AMVCA win and shared that she has received several nominations over the years. Grateful for her enduring relevance after more than two decades in the industry, the wife of Kazim Adeoti credited her continued success to consistency, authenticity, and the ability to reinvent herself.
Mercy Aigbe also made a remarkable entrance into cinema production with Ada Omo Daddy, which grossed an impressive N187 million, ranking as the third highest-grossing film of 2023—despite tough competition from industry giants like Funke Akindele and Toyin Abraham. Building on that success, she released her second cinema project, Thin Line, which also performed strongly at the box office, grossing over N100 million.
