Popular Nollywood actress Dayo Amusa has come under fire from online users for allegedly snubbing her colleague Femi Adebayo while celebrating the winners of the 2025 Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA).
The highly anticipated 11th edition of the AMVCA took place on the night of May 10, 2025, at the prestigious Eko Hotels and Suites.
It was a proud and memorable night for actor Femi Adebayo, whose movie Seven Doors won big with three major awards: Best Lead Actor, Best Lead Actress, and Best Music/Score.
Gabriel Afolayan also took home the award for Best Supporting Actor, while Lateef Adedimeji’s movie Lisabi: The Uprising won Best Indigenous Language Film (West Africa). Mercy Aigbe clinched Best Supporting Actress, and Chioma Chukwuka won Best Lead Actress for her role in Seven Doors.
While Dayo Amusa publicly celebrated these four stars on her social media, she noticeably left out Femi Adebayo, a move that sparked mixed reactions from online users.
Recall that the feud between Nollywood stars Dayo Amusa and Femi Adebayo began after the controversial “Best Dressed Female” award was given to crossdresser Bobrisky at the premiere of Eniola Ajao’s film, Beasts of Two Worlds (Ajanaku). Femi Adebayo, who served as one of the judges, announced Bobrisky as the winner — a decision Dayo Amusa openly criticized, calling it disrespectful to the women in attendance.
In response, Femi accused Dayo of being jealous and wishing her unrest. His wife, Aduke, also stepped in, branding Dayo a hypocrite. Dayo fired back, mocking Aduke’s involvement and condemning Femi’s actions. The disagreement escalated when Dayo revealed that Femi had privately informed her about being summoned by the police over accusations of promoting LGBTQ rights and receiving backlash from Muslim communities over the award decision.
The controversy deepened as other actors, including Jigan Baba Oja, got involved, sparking more online exchanges and insults. Meanwhile, Dayo Amusa — who recently welcomed her first child — appeared to confirm the ongoing tension in a new post where she warmly greeted others but deliberately ignored Femi Adebayo.
Dayo Amusa wrote; “Big Congratulations to these amazing talents and to all the winners at the just concluded #amvca11 You have made us all proud 🍾🍾🍾 Great job, keep it up.”
