Veteran Yoruba actor Elegbeje Ado has revealed that he now only features in gospel films, following a divine directive. As a result of this heavenly instruction, he no longer participates in mainstream Nollywood productions.
He made this known during an interview on Kunle Afod’s YouTube channel, where he spoke openly about the spiritual journey that now guides his career decisions.
Elegbeje, who was once a regular choice for Nollywood producers, revealed that he now intentionally declines such offers, no matter how lucrative they may be. He explained that his decision stems from a clear directive from God, instructing him to steer clear of secular roles and dedicate himself exclusively to gospel films.
The actor admitted that he has been tempted with substantial payments to return to mainstream productions but has consistently turned them down in obedience to the divine instruction.
The veteran thespian stressed the seriousness of the spiritual guidance he follows, noting that any disobedience on his part could come with consequences. He emphasized that he has made peace with the sacrifices involved, including turning down lucrative offers, in order to remain aligned with his faith.
His words: “I used to get calls from producers that I should come and feature in Nollywood movies. However, I usually declined the offer because God has warned me that I shouldn’t feature in regular Nollywood movies, but only gospel movies. Sometimes I won’t have money with me, and they will bring a mouth-watering offer with good pay. However, I will decline because God has already given me an instruction that I should follow. God has warned me that if I disobey His instructions, I shouldn’t complain if anything happens to me.”
