A new video circulating online captures the moment security officials prevented veteran singer 9ice from approaching Governor Seyi Makinde at a recent event.

The incident occurred on the night of May 2nd, 2024, during the Wema Bank 80 Gala held at Eko Hotel and Suites, Victoria Island — an event that attracted numerous celebrities and dignitaries from across the country.

As 9ice attempted to greet Governor Makinde, security personnel intervened, prompting the singer to respond, “Don’t push me, let me greet my father.”

The Governor eventually recognized 9ice, paused, and warmly exchanged pleasantries with him, saying, “You should be coming home.” It’s worth noting that 9ice hails from Ogbomosho in Oyo State.

The video has since sparked conversations online, with many praising 9ice for his humility. Despite being initially blocked by security personnel, the singer still went on to respectfully prostrate before the Governor.
