Fuji musician Rasheed Ajigijaga, the first son of renowned Yoruba Nollywood actor Ajigijaga, opened up about his relationship with his late father and the events leading to his passing in an interview with Oyinmomo.
Rasheed shared the heartbreaking story of how his father took his last breath in his arms. Recalling the painful experience, he revealed that his father passed away on July 31, 2015, at approximately 11:10 AM.
According to Rasheed, he was in Abule-Egba when he received a distressing call from his father’s wife, informing him that his father was behaving strangely. Alarmed, he rushed to his father’s residence to check on him.
Upon arrival, Rasheed immediately carried his father onto his lap and asked how he was feeling. Tragically, before he could finish his sentence, his father passed away in his arms. The moment was both shocking and devastating, as he never anticipated losing his father so suddenly.
Following the incident, an Islamic cleric (Alfa) present at the scene told Rasheed that his father’s death had been predestined to happen in that manner.
In his words; “My father died on the 31st of July, 2015, at around 11:10 AM. I was in Abule-Egba when my father’s wife called me, saying he was behaving strangely. I rushed there immediately to see what was happening. As soon as I arrived, I quickly carried my father onto my lap and asked him what was wrong and how he was feeling. But before I could even finish my sentence, he gave up the ghost. Then, one of the Alfa (Islamic clerics) present told me that this was how my father was destined to die. He said, “Ajigijaga was destined to die in the hands of his firstborn,” meaning that even if it had taken me months to arrive, my father wouldn’t have passed away until I showed up.”
According to Rasheed, his father never legally married any of his wives, so none of them could claim ownership of his estate.
“After some time, she (his step-mother) later returned to the house to take all her belongings. We can’t release the house to her because my father was not legally married to any of his three wives. So, no woman can claim ownership of his properties,” he stated.
“After hearing this, she packed everything in the house, including the furniture and some electronics like the TV. However, while she was packing, I warned her not to take my father’s Quran because that was the one thing I could never let go of,” he added.
