Veteran Nollywood actress Bukky Wright has opened up about her desire to give marriage another chance.
In an interview with the BBC, the Yoruba actress shared that she is open to getting married again if she meets the right man. However, she added that she would not go through with it if God does not approve.
“If God has a man who goes to the age of six, I won’t wait until he is five and a half.”
“If God says he will go to the top of the mountain, he will not stop until he reaches the top of the mountain.”
It’s something I like, but only if God forbids it. I don’t tell women to try it, because I like it”.
Elsewhere in the interview, Bukky Wright addressed the issue of women, particularly actresses, exposing themselves.
She noted that it’s not limited to actresses alone, as many women across Nigeria have embraced the trend.
She added that she often questions men about whether they’re the reason women expose their bodies, especially their breasts, and most of them respond by saying they actually prefer women who dress modestly.
The veteran actress also spoke about the changes that have impacted the theatre industry, beginning with advancements in the equipment used. She encouraged her fans to stay tuned, hinting that she has new projects on the way.
Bukky Wright, who relocated to the United States around 2008 to raise her two sons, shared how the move came with its own challenges. During her time abroad, she went through a divorce and battled periods of deep loneliness and depression.
Despite the tough times, she revealed that she never resorted to dirty or menial jobs. Instead, she focused on building herself professionally, studying Information Technology and later specializing in Audit and Cybersecurity. Now that her children are grown and independent, she’s ready to return to her passion for acting.
She urged her fans to watch out for her upcoming movie, The Return of Omotara Johnson, along with other exciting projects she will be part of.
Bukky Wright also praised the progress in Nollywood, noting that the industry has evolved significantly and is now operating on a much bigger and more professional scale than in the past.
